The Age of Titian
SCOTLAND
EDINBURGH  •  Royal Scottish Academy  •  Ongoing

The Age of Titian examines the taste for Venetian art in Scotland by bringing together many of the great Venetian artworks that have entered Scottish collections. Highlights include Titian’s Venus Rising from the Sea (Venus Anadyomene), which was acquired by the Gallery in February 2003, from Trustees of the Duke of Sutherland. Just one of twelve masterpieces by Titian to be included in the exhibition, it will be shown alongside paintings by some of Titian’s most illustrious contemporaries: Tintoretto, Bellini, Lotto, Veronese and Bassano, as well as a fine selection of Venetian sculptures, drawings, prints and decorative arts objects of the period.
