The theme of the year, "Yearning and parting", will be reflected in 80 events. Apart from concerts of classical music, new music, jazz, world music and crossover, the festival also includes opera, film music and two dance theatre productions, one of which has been commissioned by Dresden Music Festival. In addition, a number of cultural institutions in Dresden will be contributing their own events related directly to the theme of the Dresden Music Festival.
