The festival in its second edition focuses on music from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Three anniversaries of the year 2005 will be reflected in the festival programme: 100 years of Norway-Russia diplomatic relations, 140th anniversary of Jean Sibelius as well as the 200th anniversary of the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen.
The Finnish part of the festival, for example, includes a performance of Kalevi Aho's (b. 1949) Chamber Symphony No. 3 (1995-1996) on May 19. The Russian National Library Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Sasha Mäkilä, and the saxophone soloist will be Olli-Pekka Tuomisalo.
