As always, Beaune has succeeded in gathering most of the specialists in baroque music to give us an update on the current situation, and as usual Anne Blanchard has a few surprises up her sleeve. Handel's operas Alcina and Israël en Egypte; Conti's Don Quichotte, Vivaldi's Tito Manlio, and Monteverdi's Le Couronnement de Poppée.
Alessandro Scarlatti's Stabat Mater, Monteverdi's Les Vêpres de la Vierge, Concert and opera arias by Mozart, Bach cantatas and a recital of Handel opera arias by German counter-tenor Andreas Scholl are among the works on this year's festival programme. Travellers should note that this festival is particularly popular with Parisians. Ticket sales are brisk.
