KISSS: Kinship International Strategy on Surveillance and Suppression

KISSS: Kinship International Strategy on Surveillance and Suppression
LONDON  •  Whitechapel Gallery  •  Ongoing

KISSS is a series of performance events and interventions addressing surveillance and suppression.

In the current political and social climate, surveillance has become an accepted and unquestionable part of everyday public life. Suppression of behaviour, information and desire occurs both privately and publicly. What is the relationship between surveillance and suppression? Consequence of or reason for? How do issues of surveillance and suppression affect the work of artists and the way in which they work?

KISSS encompasses small and large scale projects, individuals, partnerships and groups. Organised public events include a press conference, a summit, a media campaign, a website and an international touring exhibition.

The project launch event features a series of performances, video screenings and presentations from Coco Fusco, Anne Bean, Deej Fabyc, Joanna Callaghan, Paula Roush, Raresonick, Camilla Breuton and Season Butler.
