German artist Andreas Hofer always works in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, and collage, and connects these as an installation in a single atmospheric unit. He continually surprises with new combinations of drawing, collage, painting, installation and sculpture. His unique aesthetic continuously experiments with different materials and techniques of applying paint, resulting in an effect that burns directly into the memory of the observer and operates in a way that is simultaneously crude and refined.
Currently in production, the work being created for This Island Earth includes a 36-foot painting flanked by tall sculptures, influenced by the artist’s interest in science fiction imagery. Hofer's work mingles good and evil, mixes fantasy and history, presenting provocative parallels. It is up to the observer to derive stories from the works - as well as to bear the tension created by them.
