Fourteen screenings of documentaries and special programs from the USA, UK, France & Spain presented by 88.9 FM WDNA Public Radio.
Two U.S. Premieres come from the United Kingdom including a film by director Mike Dibb (The Miles Davis Story, 2001). They will be featured on Friday opening with Keith Jarrett-The Art of Improvisation a documentary that offers an opportunity to examine the contrasting worlds of jazz and classical music and followed by Astor Piazzolla-A Portrait a film that explores Piazzolla's vibrant musical influence and includes archive sequences spanning 30 years of filmed performances.
Saturday afternoon's free presentation of vintage Jazz cartoons will introduce children to the music of Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway as well as to Betty Boop.
Other highlights include rhe Florida Premiere of The Cole Nobody Knows by Clay Walker provides a portrait of the vocalist Freddy Cole, who has come out of the shadow of his more famous brother Nat "King" Cole. This shorter film is followed by the U.S. Premiere of Young at Heart-Monty Alexander by director Daniel Farhi, film producer and owner of the Paris jazz Club New Morning.
