The summer Salzburg Festival is not only about opera and concerts, but for those who understand German there is also an important drama programme. This year's festival features Peter Turrini's Da Ponte in Santa Fe commissioned by the Salzburg Festival, directed by Claus Peymann and performed by the Berliner Ensemble; Arthur Schnitzler's (1862 - 1931) Das Weite Land directed by Andrea Breth, a new production of the annual presentation of Hugo von Hofmannsthal's (1874 -1929)Jedermann and a young directors project that includes a production of Sophocles' King Oedipus performed in Lithunian with German supertitles.
